The CTC Technology Centre is organising the CTC Connect – Smart Industry event on October 20 at the Gran Casino del Sardinero, which will bring together around a hundred professionals to discuss AI, robotics and industrial cybersecurity. Entry is free with prior registration.

The CTC Technology Centre, the only technology centre in Cantabria, will hold the CTC Connect – Smart Industry event on October 20 at the Gran Casino del Sardinero in Santander. The event, which is supported by SODERCAN and sponsored by VBE6D, expects to gather around a hundred professionals from the industrial sector between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, according to ecosistemastartup.com. Attendance is free with prior registration on the event's website.

The event is structured into three thematic blocks. The first, dedicated to artificial intelligence applied to processes, will feature Gerardo Lobo (Birla Carbon), Íñigo Fernández (Moeve) and Alberto Monge (LIS Data). The second block will address robotics and flexible automation with Manuel Díaz (SEG Automotive), Jon Echevarria (ABB Robotics) and Álvaro Flores (Rovimática). The third block will focus on cybersecurity, digital twin and connected industry, with Enrique Redondo (INCIBE), Álvaro San Bartolomé (Sisteplant) and Luis Fernández (VBE6D).

“The industry accounts for 20.9% of the regional GVA, compared to 15.6% of the national average,” according to the Economic Report Cantabria 2025 – Forecasts 2026 from the College of Economists.

This diagnosis, included in the report from the College of Economists, positions Cantabria as the community with the highest relative industrial weight, although the Regional Competitiveness Index from the General Council of Economists ranks it 9th out of 17, in the Medium-Low group with 8.90 points. The event aims to help bridge the gap between industrial weight and competitiveness.

Furthermore, Cantabria has climbed 10 places in the European Innovation Scoreboard over the past two years, making it the second fastest-growing community, just behind Catalonia, and it is the region with the highest orientation towards R&D+i in the European funds it manages as an autonomous community.

After the thematic blocks, there will be an industrial roundtable with representatives from Grupo SIECSA and other companies in the sector. The event will conclude at 5:00 PM.
