The Christmas bonus for pensioners will arrive between 24 and 25 November

The 2026 Christmas bonus will double the pension of nearly 10 million beneficiaries in Spain. The Social Security will pay it with the November monthly pension, and banks will advance the payment at the end of that month.

The dates for the 2026 Christmas bonus have been set. The nearly 10 million pensioners in Spain will receive a double monthly payment with their November pension, which the General Treasury of Social Security will pay during the first working days of December. As is customary, banks will advance the payment to clients with their pension direct-deposited in the last week of November, presumably between 24 and 25 November, according to OK Diario.

The bonus applies to beneficiaries of retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, or orphan pensions. The Social Security disbursed 14,498.2 million euros in the payroll of previous months, the highest expenditure in its history, a figure that indicates the volume that this double payment will move.

“The worker is entitled to two extraordinary bonuses per year, one on the occasion of the Christmas holidays and the other in the month determined by collective agreement or by agreement between the employer and the legal representatives of the workers.”

The regulation governing this payment is the Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23 October, which approves the consolidated text of the Workers' Statute. Its article 31 establishes the right to two extraordinary bonuses per year, one at Christmas and another in the month determined by the collective agreement. The same text allows the agreement to prorate these bonuses over the twelve monthly payments.
