The president of the United States proposes renaming the Atlantic or the Pacific as 'Trump Ocean' or 'Ocean of the Americas' during a rally in Tennessee.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, suggested on Saturday to rename the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean with his own name or the designation 'Ocean of the Americas'. He made this statement during a rally in Clarksville, in the state of Tennessee, according to the Efe agency.

"We need a river and we need an ocean. So I've been thinking about the Atlantic or the Pacific. We'll call it Trump Ocean or Ocean of the Americas," the president declared amidst laughter and applause from the audience.

"Before I leave, I think we should have an ocean. And we need a great river"

The proposal comes after Trump ordered the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico as Gulf of America and Lake Ontario as Lake of America. At the same event, the president ruled out changing the name of the Hudson River, which runs through New York, and the Mississippi River.

Regarding the Hudson, named after the explorer Henry Hudson, Trump commented: "He did a good job making that mess a long time ago." He also dismissed the possibility of changing the name of the Mississippi.

The US president has the authority to order changes to the official names of geographical features used by federal agencies. Private companies can decide whether or not to adopt these names, although so far the measure has found support, according to the Efe agency.

In addition to the gulf and the lake, Trump suggested changing the name of the state of New Mexico to 'New America'. This proposal would not be as simple as the geographical features, as it would require consulting the state's residents and amending its Constitution.
