SEPE will pay unemployment benefits on Tuesday, 13th October, as the 10th falls on a Saturday and Monday, the 12th, is a national holiday. Several banks will advance the payment to their clients between 5th and 10th October.
The 2,379,505 unemployed registered with SEPE in September, the lowest figure for that month since 2007, will receive their October unemployment benefits with a payment date altered by the calendar. The agency usually sets the payment for the 10th of each month, but this time the 10th falls on a Saturday and Monday, the 12th, is a national holiday for the Day of Hispanity, as reported by economiadigital.es.
The official payment is moved to Tuesday, 13th October, the next working day. Nevertheless, most financial institutions tend to advance the payment to their clients, so a significant portion of beneficiaries will have the money in their accounts before that date.
Banco Santander and Openbank may pay the benefits between 3rd and 5th October, while Bankinter will do so on Friday, 9th October. CaixaBank has set the payment for Saturday, 10th October.
The other entities listed in the payment calendar will maintain the payment starting from 10th October: BBVA, Banco Sabadell, Ibercaja, ING, Unicaja, Abanca, Cajamar, and Cajasur. The internal processes of each bank may cause slight variations among clients of the same entity without it being a problem.
In any case, the payment must be completed during the first half of the month via bank transfer to the account provided by the beneficiary. If it is not received by the expected date, SEPE recommends checking the status of the benefit on its electronic headquarters and verifying that the IBAN is correct, as well as confirming that the job application has been renewed.
If there are no errors, the affected individual can contact SEPE via the phone 060 or request an appointment at their employment office to find out the reason for the delay.
“Contribution periods are calculated taking into account the time of employment contributed to unemployment during the six years prior to the legal unemployment situation or when the obligation to contribute ended,” indicates SEPE.
The duration of the benefit depends on the days contributed in the previous six years. With 360 to 539 days contributed, 120 days of unemployment benefits are received; from 540 to 719, 180 days; from 720 to 899, 240 days; from 900 to 1,079, 300 days; from 1,080 to 1,259, 360 days; from 1,260 to 1,439, 420 days; from 1,440 to 1,619, 480 days; from 1,620 to 1,799, 540 days; from 1,800 to 1,979, 600 days; from 1,980 to 2,159, 660 days; and from 2,160 days contributed, 720 days.
Payments are always made by transfer to the account indicated by the beneficiary. The maximum date to receive the payment, in any case, is 13th October, unless advanced by the corresponding bank.
