The Workers' Union (STR) has called for strikes at Repsol's refineries and chemical plants for November 3 and 4, after failing to reach an agreement in mediation.
The Workers' Union (STR) has called a strike at Repsol for November 3 and 4, after the mediation process concluded without an agreement. According to Diari de Tarragona, the strikes will affect Repsol Fuels, Repsol Materials, Repsol Trading, and RLESA, and are part of ongoing negotiations for collective agreements.
The stoppages will occur at the refineries in Tarragona, A Coruña, Cartagena, and Puertollano, at the chemical plants in Tarragona and Puertollano, and among the office and service staff in the affected areas.
The STR, the majority union in Repsol's industrial business, believes that the company's offers are far below the economic capacity of the company. It demands salary improvements, advances in bonuses, sufficient staffing, and work-life balance measures.
The union did not sign the XI Framework Agreement as it deemed it insufficient, and rejects the notion that its content prevents achieving additional improvements in each company's agreements. Its demands encompass all staff, from production and maintenance to laboratories, engineering, safety, offices, and commercial operations.
Jordi Margalef, Secretary of Communication of STR, stated:
“It is now up to Management to translate the great results into the agreements. Their proposals are still not up to par and lead us to announce these stoppages.”
The organization warns that the strikes on November 3 and 4 will be the first days of a mobilization process that will continue if there are no sufficient advances.
