The Ibex 35 closed the week at 19,326.30 points, with a weekly increase of 1.54%. The index has accumulated a revaluation of 11.66% in 2026, the highest among major European indices.

The Ibex 35 closed on Friday at 19,326.30 points, after gaining 0.77% in the last session and 1.54% over the week. According to merca2.es, the index remains above 19,300 points and leads the rise in Europe so far this year.

The boost on Friday came from comments by the Federal Reserve chairman, Kevin Warsh, who reduced the likelihood of another interest rate hike in October. Warsh reiterated the central bank's commitment to price stability and noted that the institution will meet two more times in 2026.

In Europe, all major indices closed in positive territory. The DAX rose 0.95%, the FTSE MIB increased 0.93%, and the Euro Stoxx 50 gained 0.58%. On Wall Street, the Nasdaq fell 1.08% during the European session.

In fixed income, the Spanish ten-year bond fell to 4.002%, down from 4.025% on Thursday, and the risk premium stood at 59.91 basis points. Brent crude oil decreased by 0.18% to 105.73 dollars.

By sector, Acciona Energía (+3.18%), Acciona (+2.97%), Telefónica (+2.71%), and Merlin Properties (+2.46%) led the gains on Friday. Santander and BBVA weighed on the index following the reaction to US banking results.

The year-on-year inflation in the eurozone and the European Union reached 3.8% in September, six tenths higher than in August and the highest level in three years, as confirmed by Eurostat. With this data, the market continues to price in three rate hikes from the Fed over the next twelve months.

The analyst from XTB attributes the advance to a rotation towards utilities, telecommunications, and real estate companies, which are less exposed to the economic cycle. For investors, the pattern to follow includes the upcoming Fed meetings and inflation data from the eurozone.
