The Madrid index falls by 0.39% to close at 19,210.7 points, weighed down by the start of the earnings season in the US.

The Ibex 35 closed Tuesday's session down 0.39%, settling at 19,210.7 points, although it maintains the 19,200 mark it recovered on Monday. The day was marked by the start of the third-quarter earnings season, according to elperiodico.com.

Analysts at Bankinter have noted that corporate earnings could provide "some relief to the markets to counteract the rise in inflation in the US," the budget debate in France, and new doubts about artificial intelligence.

Internationally, investors are still watching the Middle East and oil prices following the agreement reached on Friday between United States President Donald Trump and Russia President Vladimir Putin for Russia to supply "immediately" more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel to the US and global markets. The deal includes another 500,000 tonnes in November and 1,000,000 tonnes afterwards.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has described the agreement as a "gift" for Russia to finance the conflict that began in February 2022.

Meanwhile, the Iranian government has stated that it is prepared "for all scenarios" in the face of a possible reactivation of the large-scale offensive by the US and Israel, including the suspension of flights and rail services. Authorities in the Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas, have reported nearly 1,500 Palestinians killed by Israeli attacks despite the ceasefire in October 2025.

In commodity markets, the price of Brent, the European benchmark, fell by nearly 1% at the close of European markets, to 105.5 dollars per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose by 0.15%, to 93.9 dollars.

On the macroeconomic front, the Public Treasury awarded 2,133.91 million euros in a bill auction on Tuesday, within the expected medium range, raising the yield offered to investors to two-year highs: 2.645% annually for three-month bills and 2.968% for nine-month bills.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted that Spain's GDP growth will remain the best among the major economies in the eurozone this year and next, with an expansion of 2.5% in 2026 and 1.8% in 2027, and inflation rates of 3.7% and 2.7%, respectively.

"The economy is registering a sequence of strong growth in Spain," emphasised the strategist from La Financière de l'Échiquier (LFDE), Enguerrand Artaz, who noted that in the coming months it will have to face the end of European aid and apply a bit more discipline.
