The increase in pensions for 2027 will be calculated using the average inflation over twelve months. The August CPI, at 4.3%, is just the latest available figure and does not set the final percentage.
The latest available inflation figure, the August CPI, at 4.3%, does not alone determine how much pensions will rise in 2027. According to OK Diario, the definitive figure will not be known until the end of this year, when the calculation period closes.
Contributory pensions have been linked to the CPI since 2022. The revaluation is obtained using the average of the year-on-year rates for the twelve months between December 2025 and November 2026, so a single month is not sufficient as a reference. The increase will be applied to payrolls from January.
The maximum pension is set at 3,359.60 euros per month, which amounts to 47,034.40 euros per year. These figures are for 2026, with an applied increase of 2.8%, and will serve as the starting point for the new amounts.
For minimum pensions, the amounts vary depending on age and family situation. With 65 years or older and a dependent spouse, the benefit is 17,592.40 euros per year; without a spouse, it is 13,106.80 euros, and with a non-dependent spouse, it is 12,441.80 euros.
For those under 65, retirement with a dependent spouse also reaches 17,592.40 euros, while without a spouse it drops to 12,262.60 euros. Widowhood with family responsibilities reaches 17,592.40 euros and the non-contributory pension is 8,803.20 euros per year.
The reform approved in 2023 established a schedule to progressively raise the minimums, and 2027 is the year when this process concludes. In the case of retirement at 65 years or older with a dependent spouse, the regulation uses the poverty threshold for a household of two adults as a reference. From January 1, 2027, the difference that still separates this amount from that threshold must be covered.
