PSOE requests the Court of Auditors to investigate Pedro Corbalán, CEO of Planifica Madrid, for his role in the purchase of a luxury penthouse for €6.3 million in Chamberí. The request also extends to his economic and financial team.
The PSOE has submitted a request to the Court of Auditors to investigate Pedro Corbalán, CEO of the public company Planifica Madrid, for his involvement in the purchase of a luxury penthouse in the Chamberí district for €6.3 million, as reported by elplural.com. The operation, which was carried out so that the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, could use it as an office during the works at Puerta del Sol, remains under judicial and political scrutiny.
The socialist complaint directly points to Corbalán for having formalised the confidentiality agreement with the seller, having visited the property, and having signed the deposit contract through which €630,000 was paid as a guarantee. Additionally, the PSOE demands that his economic and financial team, which authorised the payments and oversaw every step of the operation, be investigated.
The socialist group and Más Madrid have attempted several times to have Corbalán appear to provide explanations, but Ayuso's government has vetoed all attempts to make statements related to the CEO. The Madrid PP maintains that it has already provided all relevant explanations and refuses to clarify the doubts surrounding the purchase.
“They don’t want the truth about the penthouse to slip out”
Pedro Corbalán is a veteran of the Madrid PP. He developed much of his career in municipal housing companies in Guadarrama and Las Rozas de Madrid. In 2016, he was dismissed from the Rozas entity, which, according to audits, concealed information about public land awards. He then moved to the public company Obras de Madrid, successor to Arpegio, an entity linked to the Púnica case, which eventually transformed into the current Planifica Madrid, integrated into the Presidency Department.
His connection to the Púnica plot is not limited to his time at Arpegio. Corbalán owns a company based in Guadarrama that has not filed accounts for years and does not appear in his asset declaration. That firm received at least €9,570 from one of the main companies in the plot, Dusa, which also paid €153,000 to the company of Lorenzo Broncano, Strategy Director of Planifica Madrid.
The request to the Court of Auditors seeks to clarify whether the purchase of the penthouse complied with the law and whether there were irregularities in the process. The body must now decide whether to admit the request and whether to open a formal investigation into those responsible for the operation.
