The BNG considers the cuts to the first four brackets of the income tax included in the Galician budgets for 2027 as "ridiculous" and accuses the Xunta of doing politics for the wealthy.

The BNG's spokesperson for Finance in Parliament, Noa Presas, has described the cuts to the first four brackets of the personal income tax (IRPF) outlined in the Galician budgets for 2027 as "ridiculous". According to Europa Press, the parliamentarian accuses the Galician Government of engaging in "politics for the rich".

In an audio message sent to the media, Presas argues that the PP "is focused on helping those who have the most and abandoning those who need it most." Her group will present amendments to the budget with a tax reform to finance a fund against the price crisis and aid for the primary sector.

"With rampant inflation, the highest in the State, what Rueda is doing is announcing a ridiculous cut of 0.25% that will hardly be noticeable."

The spokesperson adds that the cut will not reach those who need it most, as many of those people do not even file income tax returns. According to her calculations, the average IRPF payment in Galicia rose from 6,000 to 6,741 euros in a year, an increase of 12.4%, due to the lack of deflation.

Presas also cites data on wealth and inheritance. The PPdeG maintains a 50% exemption on the wealth tax, exempts 99.9% of inheritances, and expands reductions in the inheritance tax. Furthermore, she states that 707 people hold almost 40% of the savings income in Spain.

The parliamentarian also notes that the number of taxpayers with incomes of 150,000 euros has increased by nearly 25% in a year, reaching 8,028. In contrast, she indicates that those declaring less than 60,000 euros contribute more than 60% of the revenue from those brackets.

The BNG will present three amendments to the budget. The first calls for an extraordinary fund to respond to the price crisis, with increases in social aid and non-contributory pensions, and measures for access to food and housing. The second proposes economic incentives and aid for the primary sector due to the rising costs of products and fuels. The third suggests a tax reform based on social justice that modifies the IRPF and the main taxes dependent on the Xunta de Galicia.
