Fundación Repsol adds four new startups from Spain and the UK to the 15th edition of its Entrepreneurs Fund. Each will receive up to €120,000 in convertible loans and support for twelve months.
Fundación Repsol has selected four new startups from Spain and the UK for the 15th edition of its Entrepreneurs Fund, as reported by Europa Press. The chosen ones are the Spanish Oxhyd and Tether Ev, along with the British Airhive and Repolywise. All of them are developing technological solutions in renewable hydrogen, renewable fuels, CO2 capture, circular economy, and electric mobility.
The startups will receive a tailored support programme over the next twelve months. This includes funding of up to €120,000 in the form of a convertible loan, advice from expert technologists at Repsol, and a team of mentors specialised in energy and high-value business management. Additionally, they will be able to validate their initiatives in a real environment, with pilot tests at Repsol's facilities and industrial plants or proof of concept at the Repsol Technology Lab.
Specifically, Oxhyd is developing a new generation of reversible solid oxide cells capable of generating clean electricity and producing green hydrogen. Airhive proposes a direct CO2 capture solution from the atmosphere using 'calcium looping' technology with heat recovery. Meanwhile, Repolywise transforms plastic waste directly into C2-C4 gases, promoting material recovery and resource circularity. Tether Ev optimises electric vehicle charging and facilitates the monetisation of battery flexibility through support services for the electrical system.
Since its inception in 2011, the Entrepreneurs Fund of Fundación Repsol has supported 88 technology-based startups, in addition to the four selected in this edition. The accelerated companies have a survival rate of 65%, have developed over 950 prototypes, registered more than 200 patents, and secured over €1.1 billion in public and private funding.
At the event held at Campus Repsol to announce the selected companies, the General Director of Fundación Repsol, António Calçada, welcomed the four companies and reaffirmed the energy company's commitment to technological entrepreneurship and European innovation.
"The uniqueness of the Entrepreneurs Fund lies in combining funding, personalised support, technological and business knowledge, and access to industrial capabilities," added Calçada.
In closing, the General Director of Energy Transition, Technology, Institutional Affairs, and Deputy CEO of the group, Luis Cabra, highlighted that the best way for a large company to support innovation is to become the first partner that helps demonstrate that an idea works at scale.
"Innovating is not just about developing technology; it also means opening assets, sharing knowledge, and creating spaces where new solutions can demonstrate their value," said Cabra.
The four selected startups will immediately join the acceleration programme, which will run over the next twelve months at Repsol's facilities in Madrid.
