Javier Cortés, chief of staff at Gamma, advocates for collaboration between people and artificial intelligence. He also calls on Spanish entrepreneurs for more international ambition from their early stages.

Incorporating artificial intelligence into daily work and thinking about international markets from day one are, according to Javier Cortés, chief of staff at Gamma, the keys for tech companies. This is reported by El Español in an interview conducted during the ninth edition of the Valencia Digital Summit (VDS 2026).

Cortés proposes "co-intelligence", a model of collaboration between people and intelligent systems where human input is maintained. For the executive, AI is an ally that allows for working faster and achieving higher quality results.

"The most important thing is that we bring artificial intelligence to the table, that we are not afraid of what it might do to us"

The executive, who has been working in this field for six years, has two decades of experience outside Spain, much of it in the US tech ecosystem. He has worked at Instacart and Flexport. From that perspective, he believes that Spain has qualified technical and business profiles, but its entrepreneurs lack international ambition. In the United States, he explains, founders think about a global market from the start, while in Spain there remains a more local orientation.

Regarding the Valencian ecosystem, Cortés highlights its talent and attributes its consolidation to public-private collaboration and the attraction of international professionals. The VDS brings together over 12,000 professionals from 120 countries and 800 investors, who discuss AI, mobility, and energy.
