Ingeteam has inaugurated a power electronics and control laboratory in Sarriguren (Navarra) covering 12,000 square meters and with an investment of 25 million euros. The centre will validate and certify technologies for renewables, energy storage, and electric mobility.
Ingeteam inaugurated this Friday in Sarriguren, in the Pamplona region, a new power electronics and control laboratory. The facility required an investment of 25 million euros and occupies 12,000 square meters next to the company's current offices in the Navarre town.
The event was attended by the President of the Government of Navarre, María Chivite; the President of Ingeteam, Teresa Madariaga; the CEO, Adolfo Rebollo; the Government delegate in Navarre, Alicia Echeverría; and the Councillors for Industry, Mikel Irujo, and for Universities, Innovation and Digital Transformation, Juan Luis García, as reported by Navarra Televisión.
The centre will enhance Ingeteam's R&D capabilities in areas such as renewable energy, energy storage, electric mobility, smart grids, and green hydrogen. Once fully operational, the company expects it to be among the most advanced facilities in Europe in its field.
Among its equipment is a semi-anechoic chamber of 475 cubic meters, capable of testing large-format equipment with dimensions comparable to those of a standard 12-metre bus, for advanced electromagnetic compatibility testing. It also has large climatic chambers that can accommodate equipment the size of heavy vehicles and replicate extreme temperature and humidity conditions, equivalent to those of Arctic regions or desert areas.
The building incorporates a photovoltaic self-consumption system of 260 kW and 46 charging points for electric vehicles, with ultra-fast chargers of up to 420 kW.
The Navarre president described the infrastructure as "a strategic commitment to innovation and the generation of technology from here, from Navarre".

Chivite explained that the regional government's strategy is to create an "ecosystem" with the right conditions, infrastructure, and spaces for companies to grow and attract talent.
The Government delegate in Navarre pointed out that Spain is well-positioned in renewable resources, having "a favourable productive ecosystem, with very high-level human, technological, and industrial capabilities".
The CEO of Ingeteam framed the laboratory within the company's strategy: "Having test benches of these dimensions and capabilities is essential to validate our designs across their entire operating range".

Rebollo added that the facility complements the laboratories the company already has in Beasain and Zamudio and will allow progress in essential areas for electrification, from renewable generation to efficient consumption, including storage and smart grids.
Ingeteam employs more than 4,000 people in 15 countries and has 85 years of experience in electrification. The company allocates more than 5% of its revenue annually to R&D and applies its technology to the photovoltaic, hydroelectric, wind, naval, railway, aerospace, hydrogen, data centre, mining, and steel sectors, among others.
With the launch of this laboratory, Ingeteam will be able to conduct partial tests, validations, type tests, and combined tests of power electronics and control systems it designs and manufactures internally, without relying on external facilities.
