'La bola negra' sums up to $277,500 in three days across four theatres in the United States. Its average per screen, at $69,375, is only surpassed by 'Parasite' among non-English language films.

$277,500 in three days and across four theatres. This is the box office of 'La bola negra' during its opening in the United States, from October 16 to 18, according to data released by Netflix.

The information, reported by ecosistemastartup.com, indicates that the platform had not published box office figures for its films in the last decade. The film, directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi (Los Javis), had an average of $69,375 per screen. According to the platform itself, only 'Parasite' achieved a better average among non-English language films.

This calculation has context. In the same weekend, the A24 documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, 'You Can See Everything', grossed around $15 million in 855 cinemas, with an average per theatre of less than $18,000.

One of the theatres is the Paris Theater in Manhattan, which Netflix has rented for ten years and where all screenings are shown in 35 mm. The other three theatres are located in New York and Los Angeles.

The film is not a Netflix original production. It belongs to Movistar Plus and Suma Content Films, with co-production from El Deseo and Le Pacte. Netflix acquired the distribution rights for the United States at Cannes for about $5 million. According to the information, the theatrical window is 46 days, with the film arriving on the platform on December 2, and the expansion starting on November 6 to 300 theatres across the country.

In Spain, the film has accumulated €28.6 million in box office revenue, according to data cited by Antena 3.
