According to AZARplus, the British company Rank Group closed the first quarter of its fiscal year 2026/2027, ending on 30 September, with net gaming revenues of £216.1 million, a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. In Spain, its Enracha establishments generated £10.9 million, a 7% increase.
The online business grew by 6%, reaching £64.9 million, while the physical locations increased by 5%. Within Enracha, the growth was supported by electronic gaming, whose revenues rose by 11%.
The Grosvenor casino division reached £108.1 million, a 6% increase. Visits grew by 1% and average spend per visit increased by 5%. Revenues from gaming machines rose by 14%, table games by 3%, and electronic gaming by 5%.
During the quarter, the company closed three establishments in Swansea, Reading Central, and Sunderland, considering them unviable in the medium term. The Mecca bingo venues maintained their revenues at £32.2 million. Visits decreased by 3%, and the company attributes part of this decline to the prolonged period of high temperatures in the UK.
In the digital business, revenues grew by 6% in the UK, with a 7% increase in Mecca online. International activity rose by 4%.
The company remains confident in achieving an operating profit in line with market expectations, provided the current tax regime for the sector in the UK remains unchanged.
The CEO, Richard Harris, commented on the results:
I am pleased with the revenue growth we have recorded in the first quarter
Harris also warned of a potential increase in gaming machine taxes in the upcoming UK budgets, stating that any rise would increase costs, reduce the viability of establishments, and lead to closures and job losses.
Rank will publish its half-year results for the six months ending 31 December 2026 on 28 January 2027.
