The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa expects to collect €515 million from Corporate Tax this year, a 10% increase compared to the end of the previous financial year. The forecast for income tax is €2.837 billion.
Gipuzkoa will collect €515 million this year from Corporate Tax, which is 10% more than at the end of the previous year, as detailed by the general deputy, Eider Mendoza. This information was reported by Diario Vasco following the meeting of the Basque Council of Public Finances.
Attending the meeting were the heads of Finance and Governance, Digital Administration and Self-Government of the Basque Government, Noël d'Anjou and Maria Ubarretxena, along with the general deputies of Bizkaia, Elixabete Etxanobe, and Álava, Ramiro González, and the president of Eudel, Esther Apraiz. The meeting aimed to set a record forecast for tax revenues for 2026.
The revenue from income tax in the region is estimated at €2.837 billion for this year, which is €203 million more than the previous year and €158 million above the last forecast.
“The context is what it is, but the economy is growing strongly”
Mendoza acknowledged the uncertainty due to geopolitics and inflation, which stands at 4.3%, although she highlighted the strength of employment as a support for income tax revenue.
Regarding companies, the general deputy noted that their accounting results have collectively grown by 10.8% in 2026. Business sales increased by 3.5% in the first eight months of the year, driven by sales to Spain, which rose by 5%, compared to exports, which advanced by 0.7%.
“We must recognise their effort, in this international situation, as that accounting result is very good”
Mendoza also referred to the royal decrees from the central government to contain the impact of the Iran crisis, with measures mainly in the area of energy taxation. She stated that these have resulted in a loss of about €100 million in revenue for this financial year and €22 million in deferrals.
