Sol Vilarrubí Daurella replaces her father, Carles Vilarrubí, on the board of Cobega, the largest Coca-Cola bottler in Spain. The appointment comes nine months after the death of the Barcelona businessman.
The board of Cobega, the largest bottler of Coca-Cola in Spain, has appointed Sol Vilarrubí Daurella as a new board member. The designation comes nine months after the death of her father, Carles Vilarrubí, according to Crónica Global. Vilarrubí held a position as a proprietary director representing the company Zarapicos Golf 39 S.L., controlled by Sol Daurella, non-executive chair of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and considered the greatest fortune in Catalonia.
After Vilarrubí's death, it was his widow who temporarily occupied that seat on the governing body. Now, Sol Daurella passes that third seat to her daughter, the only descendant from her marriage to the Barcelona businessman. The entrepreneur retains the co-presidency of the company and another position as a proprietary director as a physical representative of Daurin S.L., so the replacement does not imply any disconnection of the Daurella family from the shareholding.
With this appointment, Sol Vilarrubí becomes the sixth representative of the fourth family generation on the Cobega board, which has 16 members. The company was founded in the early 1950s. The governing body also includes José Albiol Daurella, Sol Daurella's other son from her previous marriage to Joan Albiol Ramis, who is present as a shareholder.
The family branch of Sol Daurella, led by her father, José Daurella, is not the most represented on the board. That position corresponds to the descendants of her uncle Francisco. Three of the four families formed by the daughters of the latter have a presence in the governance of the bottler. The most prominent is that of Carmen Daurella de Aguilar, Sol Daurella's cousin. Her husband, Mario Rotllant, co-chairs Cobega in a rotating dual leadership and has been one of the most influential executives in the company. Two of their children, Mario and Melina Rotllant Daurella, are also part of the board.
Additionally, Beatriz de Llanza and Alfonso Líbano, respective children of Alicia and Mercedes Daurella de Aguilera, cousins of the CCEP chair, also hold positions on the board. Mercedes also serves as a director, as does her sister Elena. Both belong to the third family generation, which also includes board member Victoria Figueras-Dotti Daurella.
Cobega closed the last financial year with a profit of €411.5 million, a 62% increase over the previous year. The consolidated group results exceeded €700 million, allowing shareholders to distribute a dividend.
