Telefónica has inaugurated a Talent and Technology Centre in Logroño with 21 professionals that will serve clients across Spain. The centre supports the company's global Salesforce platform.

According to El Confidencial, the CEO of Telefónica, Emilio Gayo, inaugurated a Talent and Technology Centre on Friday in Logroño. The new headquarters will cater to clients throughout Spain and provide support for the company's global Salesforce platform, which is used by nearly 9,000 people in three countries.

Gayo argued that, currently, technology allows for the development of large projects from many more locations. He explained that the goal is for talent to have reasons to stay in the region and for no one to have to leave their community to develop a top-level professional career.

“Telefónica has always been the operator of the regions, and we wanted to regain that closeness with actions.”

The CEO linked the initiative to the new technological wave driven by artificial intelligence and the company's ambition to be the main access route for businesses, administrations, and citizens to digital technologies.

The Logroño centre joins the network that Telefónica already has in Vigo, Granada, Bilbao, and Toledo. Each headquarters specializes in an area: cybersecurity, Microsoft technologies, quantum computing, or, in the case of La Rioja, Salesforce and business applications.

The new centre designs and implements solutions for administrations and companies to digitize their processes using CRM tools, data analytics, and project management. Gayo indicated that this will be done alongside the Government of La Rioja, the City Council of Logroño, and the universities.

The idea for the centre arose, according to Gayo himself, in a conversation with the president of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán. The event was also attended by the mayor of Logroño, Conrado Escobar, the president of Telefónica España, Borja Ochoa, and the territorial director of the company, Manuel Ángel Alonso.

Capellán highlighted that La Rioja has a technology company ecosystem with strategic value for the region. The centre is located in Telefónica's headquarters on San Millán street and has 21 professionals: 19 Salesforce consultants and two interns. Eleven come from La Rioja and 17 are 30 years old or younger.

During the visit, two solutions were showcased. The first is Unique Social History, a Salesforce-based platform that gathers information from over 50 Social Services processes in a single environment. The second is a remote drone operation system with 5G connectivity and artificial intelligence, designed for emergency management.
