The company Conóptica, led in Spain by Albert Noguera, has reinforced its offering of scleral lenses, a segment that is beginning to grow in the market. This is reflected by modaengafas.com, which reports the company's statement. According to the company, this specialty serves to adapt lenses for patients with irregular corneas and certain ocular surface pathologies, and offers optical establishments a way to differentiate themselves.
The cornerstone of its proposal is the BostonSight Scleral lens, which incorporates several customisation technologies: SplineCurve, Quad-Elevation, Quad-Limbal, SmartChannel, SmartSight, and Smart360. Production takes place at its facilities in Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona), and marketing began in November last year.
To strengthen this line, Conóptica has integrated the design of its lenses with the topography and tomography systems from Oculus. Notably, the scleral topography module CSP collects data from the ocular surface to design customised lenses using Smart360 technology. The offering also includes maintenance solutions Cleadew, aimed at cleaning and disinfecting the lenses.
This was expressed by Enrique Rubio, commercial director of Conóptica:
“Our mission is not only to supply a scleral lens but to provide the confidence and scientific backing necessary for the professional to successfully handle complex cases from day one.”
The group Hecht Contactlinsen, the parent company, plans to expand the distribution of BostonSight Scleral across Europe starting in 2027.
