The community gains 0.9 points of convergence in 2025 and recovers 2.1 points since 2018, although it remains almost a quarter below the national average.

The Andalusian economy raised its level of convergence with Spain to 76.2% of the national average per capita GDP in 2025, up from 75.3% a year earlier, according to data released by the Junta de Andalucía. The increase of 0.9 points leaves the community just five tenths away from the relative level it had before the financial crisis and confirms the improving trend of recent years.

The Andalusian government claims that the community has recovered 2.1 points of convergence since 2018, which equates to nearly 80% of the 2.6 points lost between 2008 and 2018. The per capita GDP stood at 26,091 euros in 2025. The information, reported by the digital newspaper El Conciso, is based on public data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Convergence is calculated by comparing the Andalusian per capita GDP with the Spanish average. The historical series shows a gradual improvement: the community rose from 74.2% of the national average in 2019 to 75% in 2023, and in 2025 it stands at 76.2%. In contrast, between 2008 and 2018, Andalusia lost 2.6 points, dropping from 76.7% to 74.1%.

Despite the progress, the gap with Spain remains wide. Reaching 76.2% means that the Andalusian per capita GDP is almost a quarter below the national average. In the regional map, the latest complete data from the INE placed Andalusia at the bottom of the regional ranking, with 24,542 euros in 2024, although that year it grew above the average.

The economic dynamism accompanies the improvement. The Junta highlights that the real Andalusian GDP grew by 3.2% in 2025, four tenths more than the national average. Since 2019, the Andalusian economy has accumulated a growth of 12.9%, compared to 12.3% nationally.

The Minister of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España, attributed the evolution to the economic policies of the government of Juanma Moreno since 2019 and assured that the community is advancing in convergence despite underfunding.

“We are competing with one hand tied behind our back”

Spain estimated the missing resources to finance public services at 1.634 billion euros annually, according to calculations by FEDEA. The Junta argues that this situation forces Andalusia to converge under less favourable conditions than other territories.

The 2025 data will be known in more detail when the INE publishes the complete Regional Accounts, presumably in spring 2026.
