The Euribor index on October 21 was at 3.262%, a decrease of 0.001 points. Its provisional average for October is 3.224%, compared to 2.187% a year ago.

According to El Periódico, the Euribor on October 21, 2026, was at 3.262%, with a drop of 0.001 points. This is a minimal movement, but the index has fallen for the first time on the reference day that variable mortgages consult.

The index is calculated based on the interest rates at which the 18 most important banks in the Eurozone lend money to each other, and it is updated daily. It serves as a reference for setting the interest on mortgage loans, business loans, and investment products.

The provisional average of the Euribor in October is 3.224%. This figure represents a notable increase compared to the same month in 2025, when the index was around 2.187%.

The previous month closed at 2.95% in August and 3.247% in September, which increased variable mortgages by up to 1,000 euros per year in some cases. For the whole of 2025, the annual average was 2.222%, nearly a point lower than the 3.275% of 2024.

For those with a variable mortgage, the payment is recalculated with the index value on the review dates specified in their contract, so a daily drop of thousandths barely alters the bill.
