The Councillor for Economy, Finance, Spokesperson, European Funds and Digital Transformation, Marisa López Aragón, met on Monday in Brussels with Spanish and European representatives to discuss the future Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Region of Murcia and the negotiation of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2028-2034.
The Councillor for Economy, Finance, Spokesperson, European Funds and Digital Transformation, Marisa López Aragón, travelled to Brussels on Monday to convey the regional government's priorities in artificial intelligence, digital transformation and European funds, as reported by laopiniondemurcia.es. The day included meetings with representatives from the Permanent Representation of Spain to the European Union (Reper) and the European Commission.
The first meeting was with the Digital Transformation Councillor of the Reper, Miguel Valle, with whom she discussed regional priorities in digitalisation and artificial intelligence. In that meeting, López Aragón outlined the work that the Murcian Executive is developing to define the future Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Region of Murcia, which will be presented shortly. The aim is for the regional strategy to be aligned with national and European policies and with the European framework for artificial intelligence.
Subsequently, the councillor met with the Finance Councillor of the Reper, Pilar Sáenz de Ormijana, to discuss the negotiation of the European Union Multiannual Financial Framework 2028-2034, the future of Cohesion Policy and the role of regions in the next programming period.
"We want the Region of Murcia to be present in spaces where important decisions are being made for our competitiveness, our digital transformation and our investment opportunities in the coming years"
López Aragón argued that autonomous communities should maintain "real participation in the design, management and execution of European funds, because it is the regional administrations that best understand the needs of their territories."
The agenda continued with a working meeting with representatives from the European Commission's Artificial Intelligence Office, where the councillor presented the advances of the new regional Artificial Intelligence Strategy and its alignment with European regulation.
"We want to work from the outset hand in hand with Europe so that the regional strategy takes advantage of all the opportunities that artificial intelligence offers and does so with safety, transparency and guarantees for citizens and businesses"
The future Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Region of Murcia will be presented soon, as announced by the councillor during her visit to Brussels.
