The National Court sentences the former sports leader to two and a half years in prison for five tax offences between 2012 and 2016. He must repay €2,858,215.20 to the tax authorities and pay €1.4 million in fines.
The National Court has sentenced Quique Pina, former president of Granada and former advisor of Cádiz CF, to two and a half years in prison for five tax offences committed between 2012 and 2016. The ruling, as published by lavozdelsur.es, establishes that he failed to declare €2,858,215.20 in income tax during those years. His sister has received the same sentence as an accessory.
The court applies to both the mitigating factor of undue delays and orders them to jointly pay the Tax Agency the defrauded amount. It also imposes fines of €1.4 million. The ruling can be appealed to the Appeals Chamber.
Pina did not submit his income tax returns for 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. He submitted the one for 2016 in March 2018, after his arrest and the searches of his home and companies, with data that the judges consider different from the actual figures. The Chamber asserts that he concealed income from club management, his employment relationship with Granada, and from brokering footballer contracts. To do this, it claims he relied on his sister and the companies Calambur Intermediaciones and Quique Sport.

The largest amount attributed to a single year corresponds to 2016, with €1,051,149.73. The remaining amounts are €524,404.28 in 2012; €195,656.24 in 2013; €645,753.36 in 2014; and €441,251.49 in 2015.
The ruling places Pina at the helm of Granada from November or December 2009 until June 2016. During that time, he performed administrative functions and was authorized on the club's bank accounts, while also regularly engaging in the brokering of footballers and sports management. Granada was promoted to the First Division in the 2010-2011 season during his presidency. In 2011, he took over the sports management of Cádiz CF and returned to the Cádiz club in the 2016-2017 season, after leaving his position in Granada.
During the trial, Pina claimed that he had not received any income from his regular activity as a football professional nor any remuneration from Granada for his presidency. The National Court rejected that interpretation and set the amount left unreported at €2,858,215.20.
