IBEX 35 Falls Sharply: Santander, BBVA and ArcelorMittal Lead the Declines

IBEX 35 closes in negative with banks as the main drag: Santander down 3.74%, BBVA 3.38% and Bankinter 3.35%. Only Acciona remains positive.

The IBEX 35 records a day of widespread losses, with banking and steel leading the declines. Banco Santander, BBVA and ArcelorMittal top the falls of the Spanish index.

This Monday's stock session leaves a negative balance in the IBEX 35, with most of its values in red. The largest declines are recorded by Banco Santander, which loses 3.74% to 12.052 euros, and ArcelorMittal, which drops 3.54% and is priced at 56.2 euros.

The banking sector is the most affected of the day, according to data collected by Rankia. BBVA falls 3.38% to 23.46 euros, Bankinter loses 3.35% and marks 15.305 euros, and Banco Sabadell declines 2.35% to 3.571 euros.

Among the major industrial values, ACS falls 2.08% and places its price at 94.15 euros. Aena loses 1.24% and is priced at 25.52 euros, while Amadeus drops 0.76% to 52.2 euros. Acerinox also closes in negative with a decline of 0.70% and a price of 16.94 euros.

On the positive side of the table, Acciona is the only value that manages to stay in the green, with an increase of 0.57% that brings its quotation to 210.8 euros.

Investors continue to closely monitor the evolution of the main European indices and the upcoming macroeconomic data that could influence the monetary policy of the European Central Bank.
