Several neobanks will sell shares of the Anthropic IPO to Spanish retail investors, while no major entity in the country has been chosen.
Several neobanks will allow Spanish retail investors to purchase shares in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Anthropic, according to La Vanguardia. The decision comes after none of the major banking entities in the country were selected for the operation.
The country manager of FlatexDegiro in Spain, Manuel Blanco, explained this Thursday in Madrid that the platform has already informed its Spanish clients that they will be able to access the purchase of shares. Sources from the British Revolut claim that they will also sell shares of the IPO in Spain, and the German Trade Republic has announced a similar decision.
The prospectus registered with the US SEC also includes eToro, Interactive Brokers, and Nordnet among the entities authorised to sell shares in the European Union. The major banks on the list, such as BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, Deutsche Bank, UBS, or Saxo Bank, are not Spanish and typically target sales towards high net worth individuals or institutional profiles.
Anthropic has also assembled a syndicate of 22 international banks for the placement, with no Spanish entity involved. Among the six European banks are Barclays, Deutsche Bank, UBS, Société Générale, BNP Paribas, and Crédit Agricole.
The company expects to debut on the stock market on November 16 and could raise around 100 billion dollars, according to analysts' estimates, which would surpass the more than 85 billion dollars that SpaceX raised in its debut. The overall valuation of the company would be around 1.5 trillion euros, although it has not yet set the percentage of capital it will float or the initial price.
The prospectus reports accumulated losses exceeding 130 billion dollars and a lack of revenue diversification, as one fifth of the revenue comes from just two clients. The risk section also includes social unrest caused by artificial intelligence.
