The CEOE employers' association will appeal to the courts against the general strike on November 11, which it considers electoral and illegal. This was confirmed by its president, Antonio Garamendi.

The CEOE will take the general strike on November 11 to court, deeming it "electoral" and illegal. This was confirmed by its president, Antonio Garamendi, on Monday, according to information published by Diario de León.

The call was registered with the Ministry of Labour by CC OO, UGT, CGT, CNT, Co.Bas, Intersindical, Union of Actors and Actresses, Workers' Solidarity and the Confederation of Tenants' Unions. The 24-hour strike originates from protests over housing following the eviction of Maricarmen Abascal.

Garamendi rejects the union argument, which he considers "laden" with labour demands to give legal character to a mobilisation that occurs just two days before the start of the electoral campaign. The employers' association is already preparing its legal reasons, which will be announced on Wednesday, after the meeting of its governing bodies.

"This is not the way"

The president of the employers' association also demanded that the right to work during the strike be guaranteed and that no disturbances occur in the streets that day. Furthermore, he placed the issue of housing and inflation, which stands at 4.9% in September, outside the responsibility of employers and self-employed workers.

"Do companies and self-employed workers have the blame for the lack of housing in Spain?"

The unions, under the slogan "Wages, housing and prices", are demanding that the CEOE and Public Administrations, namely autonomous communities, municipalities and the Government, implement measures to improve access to housing. They also request a revaluation of at least 7% of the minimum interprofessional wage for 2027 and that the employers' association unblock negotiations.
