More than a hundred executives, business leaders and self-employed individuals participated in a forum in Alcobendas about the economic development of the city. The ATA estimates there are over 7,000 self-employed in the municipality.

Over a hundred executives, business leaders and self-employed individuals gathered this morning at the Centro de Arte Alcobendas to participate in the Business Forum “Alcobendas, an ecosystem for growth”, as reported by tribunadelamoraleja.com. The event analysed the keys to the city’s economic dynamism and the challenges facing the local productive fabric.

Among the participants were Miguel Garrido de la Cierva, president of CEIM and first vice president of CEOE; Lorenzo Amor, president of ATA; and Laly Escudero, vice president of CEPYME. The City Council was represented by the councillor for the Business District and Employment Promotion, Mar Rodríguez, and the president of AICA, Javier Beitia, also attended.

The speakers highlighted that Alcobendas is an example of economic development based on the coexistence of large multinationals, SMEs, shops, and self-employed workers. They indicated that this diversity has established the municipality as a business reference in the Community of Madrid.

The director of OKDIARIO, Eduardo Inda, recalled that he has known the city for 49 years and pointed out the changes in its economic development, quality of life, and infrastructure. Escudero, for her part, attributed the municipality's growth to the coordination of various factors that have favoured productive activity.

The president of ATA, Lorenzo Amor, estimated that there are more than 7,000 self-employed individuals in Alcobendas, with 64 net registrations in the last month, according to the data presented during the forum. Amor warned that the group faces increasing administrative obligations, taxes, and paperwork, while their social protection is decreasing. In his opinion, reducing bureaucracy and supporting entrepreneurs are priority challenges to maintain activity.

In a debate panel, Baihas Baghdadi, founder of Baghdadi Capital, praised the availability of the government team led by Rocío García. Francisco Ramírez, general director of Data4, highlighted the welcome his company has received in the municipality. Guillermo Damiá, executive of Samsung Electronics Iberia, emphasised Alcobendas’ ability to attract talent since the company’s arrival.

The closing remarks were made by Miguel Garrido de la Cierva, who defended the municipality's role as an example of the strength and diversity of the Spanish productive fabric. According to the leader, the City Council understands that its role is to facilitate economic activity, and pointed out talent attraction, support for self-employed individuals and SMEs, and collaboration between administrations and the private sector as central elements to sustain the city’s growth.
