The community reduces unemployment by 62,738 people in a year and adds 118,695 affiliates, with a record of 605,258 self-employed workers. Seville is the only province that saw a decrease in unemployment in September.
The Andalusian labour market closes the last year with 62,738 fewer unemployed and 118,695 more affiliates to Social Security. The Minister of Employment, Business and Self-Employment, Rocío Blanco, presented the data after the figures for September were released, a month that ended with an increase in unemployment of 6,733 people (1.27%) in the community, according to noticiasdealmeria.com.
The year-on-year reduction in unemployment in Andalusia reaches 10.46%, compared to the 1.74% national average. Blanco emphasised that the decline is occurring "at a significantly faster pace than the national average." The total number of unemployed stands at 536,989 people, the fourth lowest record since March 2008.
In September, unemployment rose in all autonomous communities except the Canary Islands and La Rioja. Andalusia recorded the sixth most moderate relative increase in the country, at 1.27%, while nationally, unemployment grew by 23,587 people (1%) to 2,379,505 registered.

Unemployment fell in September in construction (1,292 fewer people, -2.79%) and agriculture (830 fewer, -2.94%). In contrast, services added 5,375 unemployed (1.47%) due to the end of tourism contracts, and the group with no previous employment grew by 3,325 people. The industry recorded 155 more unemployed.
In the annual balance, all sectors reduced unemployment: services (-43,228), construction (-5,817), no previous employment (-5,631), agriculture (-4,991) and industry (-3,071). The minister reminded that since March, a new statistical classification of economic activities (CNAE25) has been in effect, which may influence some variations.
By gender, in September, unemployment rose by 1.04% among men and 1.42% among women. In year-on-year terms, women reduced unemployment by 11.70% compared to 8.45% for men, and they account for 69% of the overall decline.
At the provincial level, only Seville saw a decrease in unemployment in September (-0.52%). Almería recorded the largest monthly increase, at 2.95%, followed by Huelva (2.71%), Cádiz (2.39%), Granada (2.06%), Jaén (1.73%), Málaga (1.09%) and Córdoba (0.83%). In the year-on-year comparison, all provinces reduced unemployment: Almería by 6.72%, Cádiz by 12.77% and Jaén by 12.74%, among others.
Affiliation to Social Security in Andalusia fell in September by 4,093 contributors (-0.11%) to 3,582,927. Despite the monthly decline, the last year adds 118,695 affiliates, a growth of 3.43%.
The number of self-employed workers grew in September for the third consecutive time, with 3,289 new affiliates to the RETA. Andalusia reaches 605,258 self-employed workers and maintains national leadership since May 2021. Across Spain, 14,229 self-employed workers were added, reaching 3,483,645 affiliates to the RETA. In the last year, the community has gained 15,243 self-employed workers (+2.6%), more than 21% of the new national registrations.
