The cooperative has been recognised for the fifth consecutive time as the best franchise of the year in the proximity supermarkets category, adding three more awards in the same edition.

The Annual Commerce Awards, in their fifteenth edition, have recognised EROSKI as Best Franchise of the Year in the proximity supermarkets category for the fifth consecutive time. According to emprendedores.es, the cooperative has also been awarded in the categories of online supermarkets and hypermarkets, fresh products, and hypermarkets.

The awards were presented on Thursday, October 15 during the event "Revolution in the Retail World," held at the Alexandre Hotel Fira Congress Barcelona, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Representatives from the chain collected the awards for each category.

The company highlights the origin of the recognition:

These recognitions are awarded directly by consumers within the largest consumer event in Spain

During the first half of 2026, EROSKI has opened 33 establishments, of which 30 are franchised and 3 are owned. With these openings, the chain has surpassed 300 openings in the last five years.

The EROSKI/City brand is the main driver of the network's development. In its franchised format, its supermarkets range from 250 to 400 square metres. Additionally, an ultra-proximity format is designed for stations, universities, petrol stations, and tourist areas.

In the last two years, the cooperative and its franchisees have invested 3 million euros in the modernisation of 55 stores. Alberto Cañas, director of EROSKI Franchises, highlights a customer-focused commercial proposal, a wide range of fresh products, and an assortment that combines private label and manufacturer brands.
