The administrator of the company owning the Golf Ría de Vigo club will be tried for three crimes against the Public Treasury for an alleged fraud of nearly 1.4 million euros. The prosecution is requesting 10 years in prison.

The administrator of the company that owns the Golf Ría de Vigo club will be tried in the coming days by the fifth section of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra, in Vigo, for three crimes against the Public Treasury. The information, reported by metropolitano.gal, places the case in an alleged fraud of nearly 1.4 million euros.

According to the indictment from the prosecution, the businessman defrauded the Treasury in the fiscal years of 2016, 2017, and 2019. During those years, he submitted income tax returns with negative results, allowing him to receive a refund of nearly 5,000 euros.

The public ministry claims that during the same period, the accused received other income that he did not declare. Between 2017 and 2019, he received over 2 million euros from companies based in Panama. Additionally, he received over 300,000 euros from a company in Angola, from bank accounts in Korea, and from employment income in the Netherlands and Korea.

The prosecution adds that there were unaccounted income of over 425,000 euros in accounts in Korea, the Netherlands, and Spain, as well as capital gains of nearly 40,000 euros that, according to their document, were not declared.

For these facts, the public ministry considers the accused guilty of three crimes against the Public Treasury and requests 10 years in prison and fines totaling 3 million euros. They also seek the loss of the right to receive public aid, tax benefits, or social security for 24 years.

Regarding civil liability, the prosecution indicates that two settlements linked to the crime have been made. Therefore, they ask the Tax Agency to make the necessary adjustments regarding the fraud and the individuals responsible for the tax debt once the sentence is known.
