The Xunta will reduce the first four brackets of the regional IRPF through the accompanying budget law. The measure will take effect from 1 January 2026.

Galician taxpayers will pay less tax starting from the next declaration. According to El Debate, the Xunta de Galicia has confirmed the reduction following an extraordinary Government Council held this Friday, and will implement it through the accompanying law of the budgets.

The reduction will generally affect all Galicians and, in particular, those who fall within the first four brackets of the regional IRPF. Each of these brackets will decrease by 0.25 points. The president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, has highlighted that this is the fifth reduction undertaken by the Galician Government in 12 years.

The measure will have retroactive effect from 1 January 2026. Rueda has stated that the aim is for the savings to be "felt from the next declaration".

"If the transfers involve a protected home, the tax is reduced to zero."

In the case of housing, the general rate of the tax on documented legal acts, which taxes acts formalised in public deeds, will decrease from 1.5% to 1.2%. The reduction affects the buyer in the purchase of new homes.

On the other hand, the inheritance and donation tax will have a bonus that will apply not only to relatives but also to those with a relationship of affinity up to the third degree.

The budget, approved this Friday along with the accompanying law, rises for 2027 to 15.158 billion euros, a 6.4% increase compared to the current one.
