Hacienda will charge the second instalment of the income tax return on 5 November for those who opted for instalments. If the account does not have sufficient funds, the charge will be rejected and late fees will apply.
According to Marca, financial advisor José Ramón López has warned on his social media that Hacienda will charge the second payment of the income tax return on 5 November. This charge only affects those who divided their tax return into two instalments.
The first instalment is due on 30 June, so the second receipt is the one that arrives in November. The charge will be made to the bank account that the taxpayer provided in their return, so the balance must be available before that date.
According to the expert, if the account has zero euros and the taxpayer deposits the money on the same day, the charge will have already been attempted and the deposit will not prevent the rejection.
López also explains what happens if the balance is insufficient. If the second payment is 1,000 euros and the account has 999 euros, Hacienda will not collect that partial amount:
“it won’t take anything and everything will be rejected”In that case, late fees will apply.
The advisor recommends reviewing the return, checking the account number provided, and if there are insufficient funds, making a transfer in advance. His advice is clear:
“Don’t leave it until the last minute, or else you’ll end up with the consequences”
