The Ponferrada company Fumidrón is already using a drone to clean the roof and gutters of the Carracedo Monastery. It has exclusive rights to sell this technology in Spain and Portugal.

The Ponferrada company Fumidrón incorporates drones for industrial cleaning at height, both vertical and horizontal, as reported by Diario de León. The technology is developed by the Hungarian company ABZ Innovation, with which the León firm has a collaboration agreement, and this is the first time it has been deployed in Spain and Portugal.

The work is already being carried out at the Monastery of Santa María de Carracedo, in Carracedelo, a Cultural Heritage Site where the drone cleans the roof and gutters. In about two weeks, the company plans to do the same at the three office floors of the Torre de la Rosaleda in Ponferrada.

According to its CEO, Borja García, the company has exclusive rights to sell the equipment in both countries and also offers the service:

“We have exclusivity for the sale of this technology in Spain and Portugal, and we also offer the service.”

The monastery's drone has 225 bar of pressure and a flow rate of almost twelve litres of water per minute, allowing it to clean one hundred square metres in about ten minutes. It reaches 60 metres in height, so it does not require scaffolding or cranes, and it is equipped with radar to avoid collisions.

For industrial surfaces, the company has a second model with 500 bar, designed for heavy machinery, concrete, steel structures, wind turbine blades, industrial warehouses, solar parks, or the naval industry. Among the planned projects is the cleaning of 8,000 square metres of solar panels at the Tvitec factory in El Bayo, using osmotised water and, if necessary, hot water or steam.

García estimates the savings at up to 50% compared to conventional methods. Fumidrón began operating with these drones a few months ago after obtaining the necessary permits. The cost is calculated per square metre and depends on the difficulty of access and the degree of dirtiness, and it also caters to communities of neighbours wanting to clean roofs and gutters.
