The subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom reaches nearly 4,000 employees in the Iberian Peninsula and places data control and infrastructure at the core of its strategy. The company celebrates its anniversary in Barcelona with institutional presence.

The digital services division of Deutsche Telekom Group is celebrating 25 years in the Iberian Peninsula. The company, which arrived in 2001, now has nearly 4,000 employees and a presence in six cities: Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao, and Lisbon. According to ecosistemastartup.com, the anniversary was celebrated at its headquarters in Barcelona with a message focused on technological sovereignty.

The event brought together the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu; the Secretary General of Business and Labour of the Generalitat of Catalunya, Pol Gibert; the Commissioner of the Barcelona City Council, Nadia Quevedo; the CEO of T-Systems Iberia, Osmar Polo; and the Vice President of Sales and Services, Rosa María Rodríguez.

"Control over technology, data, and infrastructure will be increasingly decisive for competitiveness"

Minister Hereu linked the anniversary to "the sovereign present and future of Europe".

The company's journey in Spain includes milestones such as the acquisition of Gedas, the IT subsidiary of Volkswagen, in 2005; the opening of the International Production Point (POP) of Service Desk in 2008; the launch of the TAO 2.0 platform in 2009, which serves over 22 million Spaniards for managing taxes or the census; the inauguration of the Cerdanyola del Vallès Data Center in 2013; the presentation of Open Telekom Cloud (OTC) in 2016; and the launch in 2024 in Barcelona of the Private Cloud Region for Southern Europe, with two mission-critical data centers and TIER III certification for 24/7 service 365 days a year.

In addition to the six offices, the company has two centres of excellence in Granada and Reus, which, according to the company, have gained prominence in providing technological services globally thanks to a cooperation model with clients and universities.

The commitment to sovereign AI is realised in three components: T Cloud, its unified public and private cloud offering with a multicloud focus and different levels of sovereignty; Industrial AI Cloud, a European initiative; and the control of infrastructure and data as a purchasing criterion for public administrations and regulated industries.
