Telefónica Deutschland has launched a new strategy to boost its growth in business services and technological alliances, aiming for double-digit growth in the corporate segment. The German subsidiary of the Spanish group also plans to modernise its network and launch new products in 2026.

Telefónica Deutschland, the German subsidiary of the Spanish group, has activated a new strategy to reinvent itself internally and in the market. The company seeks to accelerate its growth in business services, form technological alliances, and modernise its network, with the goal of achieving double-digit growth in the corporate business, according to diariodemallorca.es.

The plan is part of the group's global strategy, which focuses its business on four markets: Spain, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The latter is the largest telecommunications market in Europe, with over 114 million mobile customers and around 41 million households with contracted services, double that of Spain. Despite being the third operator in the country, behind Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone, the company defines itself as a challenger player.

“This company needed a profound modernisation”

This is summarised by Santiago Argelich, CEO of Telefónica Deutschland since January. The company has already begun to implement this transformation this year and expects 2026 to be the year of its major turning point, with the launch of new products, and that by 2028 the results will be clearly visible.

The telecom has identified three key areas to relaunch its growth: services for businesses, comprehensive technological alliances, and a global offering in convergent services for the residential segment. The main focus is on the corporate client business, a traditionally smaller area for the company where it has a reduced market share compared to its competitors.

“Our goal is to grow in this segment at a double-digit rate”

Argelich boasts that German companies have understood that Telefónica can offer technology and network quality similar to that of other operators, but with greater agility and a more attractive financial proposition. The company has already reached agreements with commercial giants such as Deichmann and JSYK, and anticipates a wave of new contracts. Additionally, it has sealed a partnership with the industrial group Siemens to develop joint products with integrated technologies from both companies, and expects new announcements with digital companies in finance, social networks, and online distribution.

In the residential market, Telefónica Germany wants to leverage its strength in the mobile business as a lever to gain market share in fixed services and others. The company is also working on modernising its network, with greater digitisation and the gradual phasing out of copper infrastructure.

The German market presents technological peculiarities, with a greater reliance on copper and cable compared to fibre optics, and very intense competition from alternative operators. Telefónica Deutschland's new strategy adapts to this local environment to drive its growth and profitability in the coming years.
