The board of directors of Telefónica approved on Monday a reorganisation that separates the Spanish subsidiary into two business divisions: one for companies and another for individuals. The operator aims to simplify its structure according to the Transform & Grow plan.
The board of directors of Telefónica is studying on Monday a restructuring of its Spanish subsidiary that will separate the business sector (B2B) from the residential sector (B2C). The measure, driven by executive chairman Marc Murtra, is part of the strategic plan Transform & Grow presented in November 2025, as reported by EXPANSIÓN.
The new structure will create at least two major business divisions. One will group connectivity and technological services (cloud, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence) for SMEs, large accounts, and public administrations. The other will focus on individual customers.
The Business division will also take on the functional responsibility of Telefónica Tech, which will be operationally integrated into the B2B area. Tech maintains operations in the UK and Central Europe, with offices in the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland, markets where the operator does not operate as a telecom.
The group does not break down revenues by country, but in the first six months of 2026, the B2C segment contributed €9.693 billion, accounting for 59.1% of total revenue. The corporate client business (B2B) generated €3.954 billion, 24.1% of the total.
"The restructuring is part of the plans to simplify the company's operations"
The operator has not detailed the implementation timeline or whether the measure will involve staff adjustments. The board of directors is expected to approve the reorganisation in its meeting on Monday.
