IBM, Fundae and the SEPE reopen the call for seven free courses in artificial intelligence, data and cybersecurity. Scholarships, with IBM certification, are for residents in Spain over 18 years old and applications are processed through Experiencia Fundae.
The State Foundation for Employment Training (Fundae) and IBM have reopened the application period for seven free courses in artificial intelligence, data analysis and cybersecurity, as reported by qpasa.com. The call, channelled through the Experiencia Fundae platform, is aimed at individuals residing in Spain who are at least 18 years old, whether they are employed or unemployed.
Five of the seven pathways accept applications until 17 March 2027. The selection of participants prioritises unemployed individuals and, in previous editions, has been resolved on a first-come, first-served basis, according to Fundae's guidelines.
The offer combines short courses with programmes lasting several months. Data Analytics requires between 58 and 65 hours, while Generative AI Engineering lasts six months without requiring prior experience. Data Science lasts around five months, with an estimated workload of 200 hours and a maximum of twelve months to complete from the start.
Three other pathways focus on the practical application of artificial intelligence: Generative AI: Introduction and Applications, Generative AI: Basics of Instruction Engineering, and Introduction to Agile Software Development and Scrum. The list is completed by the Cybersecurity course, aimed at detecting vulnerabilities, assessing risks, and protecting networks, systems, and data.
All courses are 100% online and practical, with content in Spanish, although some videos are in English and have transcripts. Data Analytics and Cybersecurity do not include tutoring, allowing students to progress at their own pace. Upon completion, each participant receives a certificate issued by IBM, which for Data Science is provided through Coursera and can be shared via a link. In previous editions of Data Analytics, training was delivered on IBM SkillsBuild and included digital badges on Credly, with the requirement to pass a final project.
“Skills in AI will be essential for the workforce of tomorrow,” said Justina Nixon-Saintil, Vice President and Director of Impact at IBM, when presenting the programme.
The collaboration between Fundae and IBM for free training in digital skills began in March 2024 with 2,000 scholarships to study Python and Power BI. The technology company also maintains the global goal of training two million people in artificial intelligence before the end of 2026.
The requirements to access these scholarships are limited to residing in Spain, being over 18 years old, and having internet access. No university degree or prior programming knowledge is required for several of the courses. Interested individuals must submit their application through Experiencia Fundae, the official platform of Fundae, and review the details of each course to know its exact duration and certification conditions.
