The Spanish benchmark index starts the session with a rise of 181.10 points, equivalent to 0.96%, placing it above 19,000 points. The major listed banks lead the advance.

The Ibex 35 has begun this Tuesday's session with a clearly bullish tone. At 09:42 GMT+2, the index was trading at 19,110 points, after adding 181.10 points, a further 0.96%. With this movement, the benchmark regains the threshold of 19,000 points, a level it had lost in previous sessions, as reported by negocios.com.

The rise returns the Spanish market to a more comfortable zone after several days of uncertainty. The advance, close to 1%, is not a mere opening testimonial: it represents a reversal of part of the recent weakness and brings the index back to a level that investors are closely monitoring.

The financial sector is once again acting as the locomotive. Santander, BBVA, CaixaBank, Sabadell, and Bankinter hold a decisive weight in the index and are particularly sensitive to any changes in interest rate expectations. The market continues to assess how long they can maintain the profitability achieved in the current monetary cycle.

Alongside banking, Inditex serves as a barometer of consumption and the ability of Spanish companies to grow outside Spain. Investors expect the Galician company to maintain high margins and strong sales in a more demanding context. Its performance often legitimises the quality of the rebound when it accompanies the rise.

Iberdrola maintains its role as a defensive value, with dividends and international exposure. The market is watching financing costs and regulation, two variables that condition investments in networks and capacity. The utility company does not usually lead euphoria but provides stability to advances.

On the telecommunications and energy side, Telefónica and Repsol offer different readings. The operator remains under scrutiny for its cash generation and deleveraging, while the oil company faces an environment of crude prices and energy transition that marks its quotation.

The challenge for the rest of the session is to see if the Ibex maintains its momentum or if the initial euphoria cools down. The key will be whether the major stocks, especially the banks, sustain the advance. Without the backing of the financial sector, the benchmark struggles to rise convincingly.
