The Spanish index closes higher at 19,444.20 points after oil prices moderate and debt eases. Solaria and Sabadell lead the gains; Telefónica and Repsol, the declines.
The Ibex 35 closed Tuesday's session up 0.75%, reaching 19,444.20 points, according to noticiasbancarias.com. The day was marked by the moderation of oil prices and the easing of sovereign debt yields, two factors that allowed European markets to recover ground despite geopolitical uncertainty.
The Spanish index, which ended Monday at 19,299.70 points, reached an intraday high of 19,576.20 points, with a low of 19,395.80 points. With this advance, the index re-establishes itself above the 19,400-point barrier.
Investors closely monitored the evolution of the energy market. At the close of European markets, a barrel of Brent fell to around 98.50 dollars, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) hovered around 88 dollars. This easing of oil prices helped reduce some of the inflationary fears of recent days, while vigilance remained over the situation in the Middle East.
Within the Ibex 35, Solaria led the gains with an increase of 4.61%, followed by Banco Sabadell, which progressed by 2.90%, and Acciona Energía, with a 2.80% rise. Also notable were Puig, with a 2.41% increase, and Grifols, which advanced by 2.30%.
The evolution of Sabadell was influenced by the entry of the French banking group BPCE into its shareholding with a 7% stake, after both entities reached an agreement whereby the French investor committed not to exceed 9.99% of the capital.
On the downside, Telefónica lost 1.49% and Repsol fell by 1.44%, while Acerinox ceded 1.22%.
The day was also positive across the rest of Europe, with advances in the main markets on the continent. Meanwhile, Wall Street was moving into positive territory during the European close, with the technology sector as one of the main focal points.
In the debt market, the Spanish ten-year bond reduced its yield to around 4.07%, down from 4.12% at the previous close, while the Spanish risk premium stood at around 65 basis points.
The euro, for its part, advanced against the dollar, trading at around 1.1267 dollars, while gold regained ground in a scenario where investors combine the search for yield with caution amid geopolitical tensions.
