Sage has launched Sage Expenses in Spain, a tool that digitises the submission, approval, and accounting of employee expenses. It natively integrates with Sage 50.

According to agencia6.com, employees will be able to photograph their receipts and invoices from a mobile app instead of submitting paper. Sage Expenses integrates with Sage 50, the accounting and management software used by many SMEs in Spain, so that data does not have to be transferred from one platform to another.

The tool covers the entire expense cycle. An artificial intelligence classifies expenses into predefined categories, managers approve requests from any device, and the system alerts when an amount does not comply with the company's internal policy. Once approved, the expense is automatically recorded in Sage 50.

Each expense is recorded with its digital receipt, date, amount, and approval, which facilitates internal audits and inspections by the Tax Agency. Sage also indicates that finance departments can reduce the time spent on repetitive administrative tasks.

The launch comes at a time when the regulatory framework is advancing towards mandatory electronic invoicing, and SMEs are looking to digitise their accounting processes.
