BBVA extends AI Banker, an ecosystem of AI agents for its business banking. In Spain, the tool generates reports prior to each business visit and saves one hour of work per meeting.
According to information published by Ecosistema Startup, BBVA is deploying AI Banker, a set of artificial intelligence agents to advise businesses. In Spain, the system already prepares strategic reports before each business visit, and the bank estimates a saving of one hour per visit, according to the managers' own estimates.
AI Banker does not function as an isolated application that answers specific questions. There are several agents that accompany the manager in different phases of their work. Its main function is to gather and summarise internal and external information about each client and the sector in which they operate, so that the manager arrives at the meeting with complete context.
Confirmed functions include reports to prepare meetings, with company data, sector analyses, and commercial recommendations. The final decision remains in the hands of the manager.
Jacobo Anaya, head of AI Transformation in Business Banking and Institutions at BBVA, states that the goal goes beyond meeting preparation and aims to change the way of understanding and advising clients, anticipating their needs. The bank indicates that it adapts these capabilities to the particularities of each country in which it operates and shares learnings between markets.
According to the bank, more than 7,000 professionals from Business Banking and Institutions (BEI) are already using AI tools to improve customer service, streamline risk analysis, and increase commercial productivity. 86% of AI Banker users believe that the tool adds significant value to their activity.
The second tool in the deployment is AutoPF, which helps develop financial programmes. It is used by 86% of BEI managers in Spain, has over 900 active users, and has initiated more than 34,000 conversations.
BBVA is also preparing two other projects. Blue Enterprise will evolve into an intelligent assistant available 24/7 on the bank's digital channels for daily business operations. Akira will incorporate AI and agent systems into software development, aiming to reduce analysis and construction times.
Jaime Sáenz de Tejada, global head of BEI, explains that the bank wants to integrate these capabilities into the core of its processes to improve service and productivity. BBVA serves more than 220,000 clients in Business Banking and Institutions in the markets where it operates.
The State of AI 2026 report by Deloitte, based on over 3,200 business and technology leaders from 24 countries, shows a different picture. Nearly 60% of workers have AI solutions approved by their organisation, compared to less than 40% the previous year, but fewer than six in ten with access use them daily. 84% of organisations have not redesigned roles or workflows to integrate AI.
In Spain, 85% of companies expect to increase their investment in AI in the next fiscal year, and nearly a third expect increases of over 20%, according to the same Deloitte report.
