Ibex 35 closed on Friday with a rise of 0.77%, reaching 19,326.3 points. With this advance, the index achieved its best weekly performance since early August.

The Madrid Stock Exchange ended the week positively despite the turbulence in other international markets. According to estenerife.com, the index gained 1.54% over the week, its best performance since early August.

In Friday's session, the Ibex 35 rose by 0.77% and stood at 19,326.3 points. All its values closed in the green, except for Redeia, which fell by 0.2%. Acciona (+3.14%) and Acciona Energía (+3.18%) led the gains, followed by Telefónica (+2.71%), Merlin (+2.46%) and Ferrovial (+2.27%).

The rest of the European stock exchanges also closed higher. The German Dax gained 0.95%, the Italian FTSE Mib 0.87%, the British FTSE 100 0.35%, and the French Cac 0.28%. On Wall Street, the balance was mixed: the Dow Jones rose by 0.22%, while the Nasdaq fell by 1.05% and the S&P 500 by 0.39%.

Oil is the main source of uncertainty. The Brent, a European benchmark, closed on Friday at 105.9 dollars per barrel, marking its fourth consecutive weekly gain. The US WTI, on the other hand, rose by 6% over the week and is approaching 98 dollars per barrel, its highest level in a month.

The rise in energy prices rekindles fears of a surge in inflation. According to Eurostat, inflation in the eurozone rose to 3.8% in September. In Spain, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) confirmed that consumer prices reached 4.9%, their highest level since early 2023.

With this data, analysts cited in the report do not rule out that central banks may adjust their decisions on interest rates. The upcoming indicators of inflation and rates will determine the evolution of the Ibex in the coming weeks.
