Priscila, self-employed builder in Asturias for over ten years, would not accept working for a company for less than 2,000 euros a month. She explains this in a podcast about trades.
According to El Español, Priscila, a self-employed builder in Asturias for over a decade, states that she would not work for a company for a salary lower than 2,000 euros a month. She arrived in the region from Brazil at the age of 23 and reviewed her journey on the YouTube channel Sector Oficios Podcast.
After a year with a contract at a renovation company, she decided to become self-employed to offer painting, moving, and debris removal services. To finance her startup, she sold her personal car and bought an industrial van to transport materials.
At first, some property owners asked her where the site manager was, as they did not assume a woman would lead the work. Regarding this, she states:
“More women are needed in the sector for it to become normalised.”
Over time, the quality of her finishes and her professional treatment allowed her to build a loyal clientele in the Asturian market. Her method includes providing materials from day one, a practice that, as she explains, conveys security to homeowners.
Priscila values her autonomy for the flexible hours it gives her, although she acknowledges that daily management and long hours require effort. With that balance, she is clear about what she would ask from a company:
“I wouldn’t go to a company for less than €2,000 a month.”
The professional, who works in the renovation sector, uses her flexibility to travel to Brazil and visit her family.
