Telefónica España has finalised the purchase of a 10% stake in OGA, a company based in Camas (Seville) specialising in artificial intelligence for decision-making. The agreement does not include a seat on the board of directors.
The acquisition of a 10% stake in OGA is now official, according to El Periódico. The operation has been completed by Telefónica España, which now has a stake in a company specialising in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and simulation models for real-time decision-making.
In addition to the capital entry, the two companies have signed a commercial and technical alliance. With this, OGA's solutions will be incorporated into Telefónica's B2B service catalogue for businesses and administrations. The telecom company believes that this operation will allow it to strengthen its AI strategy in the industry, especially in defence, where simulations and digital twins have a significant impact.
“The stake in OGA will allow us to strengthen our strategy in AI solutions applied to the industry, with a special focus on the Defence sector.”
This is explained by Javier López Gutiérrez, director of the Defence and Security area of Telefónica España. The agreement does not foresee Telefónica's entry into OGA's board of directors, which maintains its independence.
OGA was founded 19 years ago and is a deeptech company with dual-use solutions, both civilian and military. It is headquartered in Camas and has an office in New York, and has been working with Telefónica as a service provider for two years. Its team comprises over 75 professionals, including mathematicians, statisticians, engineers, and data scientists, and it has a technological advisory board of 14 professors and researchers.
“The incorporation of Telefónica as a partner represents a strategic backing to our trajectory and our technological capacity.”
This is stated by Juan Carlos Rubio, CEO of OGA, who adds that the alliance will allow him to accelerate the development of AI solutions and decision support.
