The ESA space incubator at Castellón airport will have its own financial channel thanks to the agreement signed with CaixaBank.

The public company Aerocas and CaixaBank, through its specialised division DayOne, have signed a collaboration agreement to facilitate funding and advice for startups at the European Space Agency incubator at Castellón airport. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the agreement also extends to other innovative projects in the airport environment.

The agreement was presented on Tuesday with the participation of the third vice president of the Consell, Vicente Martínez Mus, the commercial director of Companies at CaixaBank in Valencia and Castellón, Felipe Pulido, and the general director of Aerocas, Raquel París. Its aim is to strengthen the business ecosystem of the airport. Martínez Mus described it as:

“one more step” in the strategy to consolidate the Castellón facilities as a space for innovation

CaixaBank will provide companies with a specialised financial support channel, with products and services tailored to technology companies. The collaboration includes advisory sessions, training workshops, mentoring, and meetings with investors, as well as access to entrepreneurship programmes such as the EmprendeXXI Awards. Funding applications will be studied individually by the entity.

The initiative will primarily benefit the companies of ESA BIC Valencia Region, the first incubator of the European Space Agency in the Valencian Community, based at Castellón airport. The programme currently has eight startups enrolled and a third call open to incorporate four more projects from the space sector.

The agreement will also extend to companies that have already completed their incubation process. Aerocas will be responsible for disseminating the opportunities of the agreement and facilitating contact between the companies and the DayOne managers.
