Pedro Sánchez commits to raising the minimum wage each year and safeguarding the revaluation of pensions in the Constitution, in a campaign culminating on November 29.
Raising the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) annually and safeguarding the revaluation of pensions in the Constitution are two commitments that Pedro Sánchez, Secretary General of the PSOE and President of the Government, has made ahead of the elections. According to Onda Cero, the announcement was made at a pre-campaign event held on Sunday at the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao, under the slogan "The strength of the Country".
During his speech, Sánchez asked for voters' support on November 29 for a progressive Government that, he said, will advance further in the next four years. He stated that, as long as he is in power, the SMI will rise every year.
"I am not asking for a simple majority, but a broad and progressive one"
Sánchez linked this request to housing policies and called for a broad and progressive majority in the next Parliament. He also noted that the PSOE wants to go to Congress and the Senate with the same mobilization that, in his words, was seen in the United States.
In his speech, the president maintained that both the right and the far-right, both Spanish and international, are attacking the Government. In response, he said:
"We are the living proof not only of words but also of actions"
Regarding the massive influx of migrants into Ceuta at the end of July, Sánchez assured that the Government is still investigating, from a national security perspective, the causes that led to it. He recalled that the matter is currently in the courts of the Audiencia Nacional. These statements were made in the podcast Memorias de Pez, released on the same Sunday.
