Julio Martínez has authorised the Treasury to review the bank accounts of Análisis Relevante, which paid 390,000 euros to the former president between 2021 and 2024.

The businessman Julio Martínez, investigated in the Plus Ultra case, has authorised the Tax Agency to directly request from banks the movements of the accounts of Análisis Relevante between 2021 and 2025. According to estenerife.com, the consultancy he manages paid 390,000 euros to the former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero between 2021 and 2024.

The data is included in the inspection proceedings sent to Judge José Luis Calama, the instructor of the Plus Ultra case. Martínez appeared on 29 September before the Inspection in Alicante as the sole administrator of the company and signed the consent for this inquiry.

Martínez stated that he would cooperate as much as possible, but did not provide the requested documentation. He attributes the lack of delivery to an unforeseen impossibility beyond his control.

The Inspection detailed the payments declared to Zapatero: 75,000 euros in 2021, 110,000 euros in 2022, 110,000 euros in 2023, and 95,000 euros in 2024. Additionally, the consultancy paid 177,870 euros to Whathefav, the company of the former president's daughters.

Between 2021 and 2024, Análisis Relevante declared income from four clients amounting to 704,488 euros. Payments to Zapatero and his daughters total 567,870 euros, which is 81% of that income. Plus Ultra was a client in 2021, 2023, and 2024, and in 2025, already with the case open, it paid another 79,860 euros.

The company began operating in February 2020, has no employees, properties, or vehicles, and is not registered for the Economic Activities Tax. Its tax address is in Petrer (Alicante). The Treasury is asking Martínez to explain what activity he carries out and with what means.

In his personal inspection, the Treasury is asking him to justify why he did not file his income tax return for 2021, 2022, and 2023. In the 2025 return, submitted on 9 June, he included a capital gain of 286,000 euros and requested to defer a payable amount of 65,792.60 euros.

The Tax Agency points out that Martínez controls a network of 39 companies and that he registered a personal loan of 70,000 euros received in 2023 from Agropecuaria Lucena, in addition to an account in the United Kingdom. The Treasury is asking him to explain how he paid for his daily living expenses, housing, food, and phone bills.

Judge Calama agreed this Friday to suspend the tax inspections of Zapatero, his wife, his daughters, and Martínez, following the Treasury's request on Wednesday. The suspension interrupts the statute of limitations and halts the maximum period for inspections, which are now pending the conclusion of the criminal case.

The representative of Zapatero's family has commented on the pending documentation:

“All documentation that may have implications in this criminal process will not be submitted in this tax procedure until the judicial case is concluded.”
