The price of spare parts for automobiles has risen by more than 25% in Spain over the last four years, above inflation. Many drivers are now turning to alternative parts to manage costs.

According to COPE, the price of spare parts for cars has increased by more than 25% in Spain over the last four years. This figure was presented by motor expert Alfonso García 'Motorman' on the programme 'Poniendo las Calles', alongside Carlos Moreno 'El Pulpo'.

in the last four years, their price has risen in Spain by more than 25%, well above inflation

The programme indicates that half of Spanish drivers now choose alternative parts to reduce expenses. According to the expert, in the last decade, the prices of spare parts have doubled in Spain and Europe.

García explains that vehicles are now more complex: they have 50% more parts than they did ten years ago. This complexity also increases repair costs and insurance premiums. Body parts, such as fenders, hoods, doors, or panels, have risen by more than 80% on average during this period.

Non-original spare parts can cost between 30% and 60% less than official ones. However, they may result in the loss of the manufacturer's official warranty and, in some low-cost components, reduced durability.

To choose, the expert distinguishes based on the part. Alternatives are reasonable options for aesthetic components, filters, wipers, or batteries. In contrast, for brakes, airbags, or the steering system, he always recommends the official part from the manufacturer.
